Having a separate desk for scrapbooking is an excellent idea and a good investment when you really love this hobby and indulge in it often.Since scrapbooking involves many tiny elements and because you need to keep your paper free from tears and damage, be sure to have a separate area for your supplies.  To really make the most of your desk for scrapbooking there are a few scrapbooking ideas you should think about before you make a purchase.

For one thing you should always keep everything on your desk for scrapbooking neat and organized.  It’s easy to let the tiny page embellishments and scrapbooking materials get mixed up with one another but this can cause frustration when you’re ready to actually create some new page layouts.  There are many containers and organizers you can buy that are specially made for scrapbooking organization, but remember that you can use just about anything to keep your items separate and organized.Your house is full of things to organize tiny embellishments, like egg cartons, paper cups or plastics lids to your hairspray can (always wash them first of course)!).

A trash bin is a necessity near a desk for scrapbooking so you can easily get rid of your scrap paper and tape without getting them mixed in with your supplies.  A separate cup or drawer for basic scrapbooking tools like scissors and paper cutters can keep things organized and neat as well; nothing is more frustrating than hunting around for the scissors or die cutter when your desk is covered in cardstock and other page elements.

Scrapbook paper storage is very inexpensive and can really help keep your desk for scrapbooking organized as well.These sorters for cardstock are stackable and allow you to sort by color, pattern or theme, and will keep your papers from getting damaged or bent. Remember that when you have a desk for scrapbooking you don’t need to keep everything right on the surface of the desk.Place a corkboard on the wall in front of your desk so you can attach binder clips and use the clips to organize papers without having to use pushpins.  You can also pin envelopes to the corkboard and use these envelopes to keep small embellishments and stickers neat and organized. Clear plastic Ziploc bags work well and allow you to see exactly what’s inside. Be sure to use the space under your desk for scrapbooking as well; a small cart with drawers is usually affordable and can easily stay next to or under your desk for easy storage access.

Creating page layouts is easier and quicker when you have a scrapbooking desk that is neat and organized.  It allows you to get started sooner and you don’t waste time clearing a space to work on a page.  The time you spend to maintain your scrapbooking organization will be well worth it when you’re able to get more pages completed.
